Naxos Festival 2014

Naxos Festival is nowadays a platform for intercultural meetings (Greek and from abroad) and includes art exhibitions, theatre and musical performances, modern dance and many others cultural activities.

The festival events take place from July to September at Bazeos Tower, a 17th century monument which predominantly overlooks the Naxian mainland and the seacoast of Agiassos, in an environment that encompasses and inspires both the events and the audience.

Due the coexistence of international artists with modern artistic currents, the Naxos Festival becomes a point for multicultural meetings and special productions, The Naxos Festival guarantees a rich cultural life during vacation, revealing Naxos island a perfect place for vacation, with a regenerating cultural atmosphere.

14/06 – 17/09/2014 Costis Antoniadis Syn-opsis Bazeos Tower June 14-September 17, 2014 Daily: 10:00-17:00 A different art exhibition takes place each year at Bazeos Tower. This year a renowned photographer and professor of photography Costis Antoniades invites us to get to know him through a series of photographs that are representative of his work in time. The collection was last exhibited at the Benaki Museum in Athens in 2013. Portraits and intriguing environments as well as a surprising and unexpected view of Naxos landscapes processed under the “day for night” technique i.e. pictures taken in broad daylight with the use of a blue filter. This special effect was first attempted in film making. The effect on the viewer-spectator may be the awakening of a strange desire for an adventurous trek with a “road movie” feeling. Sunday 27/7-21:30 Groove Catchers jazz group D'une esthétique jazz-fusion influencée par Wayne Krantz, Oz Noy ou Joshua Redman, Groove Catchers développe sa propre personnalité en mêlant grooves asymétriques, improvisations interactives et énergie collective. The trio Groove Catchers, is the meeting of three young musicians who start a work composition on 2009 during workshops at the Jazz School in Tours, France. She sings the tales of her land and, like another Blanche DuBois, carries the baggage of failed expectations. A romantic journey into the concept of “Greekness” in search of a miracle.
